Thus far the Lottery and Gaming Control Commission has found 11 of 17 entities across the state qualified to obtain those licenses. Their applications now head to the Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC), who is responsible for awarding the licenses. Chesapeake Gaming in Washington County, and BetFred Sports have also qualified for sports wagering facility licenses.Ĭhesapeake Gaming, has an off-track betting venue in Boonsboro and BetFred Sports operates Long Shot's in Frederick. State officials say Maryland Stadium Sub has plans to operate a sportsbook at FedEx Field in Landover, the home of the Washington Commanders. Three more facilities in Maryland have qualified for sports wagering licenses.
